Also niddah (/taharas haMishpacha/family purity) is not about being dirty; it’s a state of ritual purity (or lack thereof) that happens naturally with a woman’s cycle and has to do with being able to enter the mishkan.
Because life is the most holy and sacred thing there is, when life doesn’t happen, it leads to a temporary state of ritual impurity that is changed by immersion in a mikvah. It’s not necessarily 12 days, either, it’s all tuned in and dependent on the woman’s natural rhythm.
